Scope and Contents John was born in Ogden, Utah in 1944. John was passionate about photography throughout his life and began taking photographs for the Ogden Standard Examiner at age 13. John attended Weber State University where he earned his bachelor’s degrees in both Sociology and Photography. Information listed on the folder is not inclusive to its total content. Some materials have been moved from one folder to another in order to keep the continuity of information.

The MacDowell Ensemble Ogden Chapter is part of the MacDowell Clubs, which was established to honor the American composer, Edward MacDowell. This club promotes music and other art forms in America, providing a platform for artists to exchange ideas and create works. All this to support local artists and fosters community engagement in the arts. Mona Smith was a music professor at Weber State University. She specialized in the piano. She was a Utah Honored teacher.

Scope and Contents The Ogden Symphony Ballet Association (OSBA) Collection was donated by the OSBA, which was conceived of in 1949 by Beberly Lund and Ginny Mathei. These women were two Ogden housewives who wanted to bring culture and art to Ogden. They put together a concert that three hundred people attended and it was hailed a huge success. The women decided to continue the concerts and organized a committee within the Welfare League to raise money for the concerts. In 1957 the committee became the Ogden...
