Biographical / Historical
French has been taught at Weber since 1897. The first French club was created during the 1914-1915 school year. The first officers were Ellen Scowcroft, president; Clark Barlow, vice president; Franklin Richards, secretary and treasurer; Elda Ririe, Ben Young, Ruth Pardoe, and Josephine Volker, program committee. The purpose of the club was to provide a way for LDS return missionaries to continue to use their French.
From 1982-1984 the French club was called Le Cercle Français. From 1986-1988, it was known as L'Alliance Francaise.
