Stanley Purrington Collection
This collection contains items collected by Stanley Purrington during his years at Weber Stake Academy from 1910-1912 and during his service overseas in World War I. The items were donated by his children. The order reflects the provenance from the donors.
U.S. Official Pictures of the World War
This collection contains the U.S Official Pictures of the World War bearing images of America’s
participation from 1920, and United States Navy in the World War from 1921. The book is in
poor condition and has been disbound to its individual portfolios. Included tucked into the front
cover of the book is a photograph and certificate.
War Service Cards
This collection contains service cards for servicemen from Weber County primarily during World War I, but also some from World War II. The cards are listed alphabetically by last name. Most of the cards include information such as their home address in Weber County, their branch of service, countries served in, discharge or death dates, and next of kin. There are also fewer than two dozen cards for nurses and Forest Service personnel.
Willard City, Utah Letter
Letter addressed to Elmer from Violet, dated November 17, 1918, Willard City,
Utah. Letter is full of casual conversation and implies that Elmer is still enlisted in the military,
although World War I is over.
William R. Cornell Hill Field Cards
Identification cards for William R. Cornell, Captain of the Air Corps, Hill Field,
Utah, 1943-1945. Includes serology card for Elva Cornell, a tobacco ration card, and a tent area
admittance card.
