Ogden Symphony-Ballet Association

Scope and Contents The Ogden Symphony Ballet Association (OSBA) Collection was donated by the OSBA, which was conceived of in 1949 by Beberly Lund and Ginny Mathei. These women were two Ogden housewives who wanted to bring culture and art to Ogden. They put together a concert that three hundred people attended and it was hailed a huge success. Items related to the Ogden, Utah Tabernacle of the Church of Jesus Christ of

Latter-day Saints. Includes a program for a concert of John Philip Sousa and his band held

December 1, 1919; a souvenir program for “Dedicatory Services, Ogden Latter-day Saints’

Tabernacle,” Sunday, February 12, 1956; and a program for “The First Annual David O. McKay

Honor Day,” February 25, 1965.

Ogden Tabernacle Brick

Scope and Contents

The original Ogden Pioneer Tabernacle, on the southeast corner of the block, was begun in 1855 and finally opened on Oct. 10, 1869, seating 1,250 people. However, soon after the railroad came to Ogden, work began on a new, larger tabernacle and the old one was to be a concert hall. The tabernacle was replaced in 1953. That tabernacle stood until 1971.
