Contains copy of newspaper article and Photo of Harmon Peery dated 10/16/34 with writing: “Mayor Proposes Lottery to Swell Treasury. Pictured above is Mayor Harmon W. Peery, of Ogden, Utah, who proposes to pay off the city’s huge bonded debt and to provide for public improvements and charitable purposes by holding a weekly lottery under municipal auspices—with a new automobile as grand prize each week. Under the mayor’s plan, the car would cost the city some $700 and $1,000,000 would be realized from the sale of the lottery tickets.”
