Abstract

This collection of papers relates the long and successful career of Elizabeth A. Vance in local, state and national Democratic Party politics. It is more than a personal history of Mrs. Vance’s political activities, however. It is also a chapter in the history of the Democratic Party in Weber County and the state of Utah since World War II.

Abstract Photographs of the Friedrich Johann Kiesel (Fred J.) family. Kiesel,b. 1851 - d. 1919, was a prominent early Ogden, Utah businessman and the first non-Mormon mayor of Ogden. Photographs in this collection are of his parents, Louise B. and Friedrich C. Kiesel, and his brother, Henry Kiesel and his wife. These photographs were taken in the Kiesels’ homeland of Germany. The second half is photographs with personal photographs followed by work photographs. There is a note on each folder as to where the corresponding photographs or manuscripts are located. The collection was kept in original order.
