Ron Wilcox Collection
Scope and Contents
The Ron Wilcox collection was donated by Ron Wilcox. Ron was a writer specifically of poetry, which he incorporated into plays and epic poetry. He grew up in Holiday, Utah, attended BYU and received his master’s Degree from Baylor University.
This collection is arranged in four main series, Correspondence, Writings, Audio Visual and Visual Arts. There is only one correspondence, and it is followed by his writings. This series begins with his memoirs which includes an oral history interview conducted in 1989. Next comes his plays, this has his original charcoal study in Brainwashing which was created for Thomas Andros. His poetry is next and this includes his epic poem, Mormon Epic and Mormon Epic II, and smaller works. Published works follows and this include his novel, The Rig, his master’s thesis and a self-published book. The last in the writing series is Other Writings, and this contains his writings that would not fit anywhere else.
The Audio Visual series contains some photographs and color slides from the Thomas Andros play. It also includes CDs that contains readings from his poetry and other works. The Visual Arts series is last, and it contains his illustration books plus a charcoal done by his brother, Keith Wilcox, of Ron as a young boy.
