The Mrs. Henry Aldous (Lucille) Dixon Collection
Scope and Contents
MS 118 comprises five (5) document boxes and three (3) volumes pertaining to the political career of Henry Aldous Dixon. It is by no means an exhaustive record of that career. It is, however, an overview of his more important achievements. The collection highlights Congressman Dixon’s involvement with the 84th, 85th and 86th Congresses. In addition, it provides a synopsis of how he came to be chosen as the Republican candidate for the office of First District Representative in 1954, and material pertaining to his decision not to seek reelection in 1960. Only asmall portion of the material is original correspondence. The bulk of the collection is made up of newspaper clippings, press releases, and campaign material. Also included are photographs (duplicates of collection P 26) portraying the Congressman with various friends, colleagues, and members of his family, as well as items of personal memorabilia.
