Claude T. Barnes Personal Correspondence Collection
Abstract
The Claude T. Barnes Collection was bought by Weber State University. This collection contains letters written to Claude Barnes while he was attending college and while he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint in England. The letters have a wide range of authors. Some are from his family, such as his mother, father, sisters and nephew. Most are from female acquaintances he corresponded with here in Utah. Of special interest are the letters from his wife. They date from before their marriage as well as after. Other correspondence of special interest are the letters between Mr. Barnes and a Miss Jennie Smoot to Claude Barnes as well as from Claude to Jennie Smoot. Biographical information can be received from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints genealogical records as well as the Salt Lake City Tribune obituaries, May 2 1968.
