Biographical / Historical

Bryant A Miner was born August 9, 1934 in Moroni, Utah to Caroline Eyring and Glen Bryant Miner. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1952. He served an LDS mission to Argentina from 1954 to 1957. From 1957 to 1959 he served in the United States Army. In 1960 he married Janice Mabey, who passed away in 1986. He later married Karen Neff in 1987. He was a member of the Audubon society and loved to travel the world visiting every continent except Antarctica.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1961 and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry in 1965, both from the University of Utah. While enrolled at the University of Utah he received the American Institute of Chemists’ medal in 1961 and was also elected to membership in Phi Kappa Phi Multidisciplinary Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa Liberal Arts Honor Society. He joined the faculty at Weber State College in 1964, where he taught Chemistry for 43 years.
He became a member of Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society and the American Chemical Society in 1966. He served as a member of the Utah State Board of Education General Science Curriculum Committee from 1968-1972.
He co-authored six publications on electrochemistry, significant structure theory of liquid mixtures, and, high pressure studies of battery output.
He passed away December 19, 2012 at the age of 78. He was memorialized in 2017 at the University of Utah with an endowed lectureship and lecture theater in his name.
