Reed Millington Stringham, Jr. was born on June 28, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Reed M. Stringham, Sr. and Helen Pratt Stringham. He grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School. He received a B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Utah and a D.D.S. degree from Northwestern University.Reed married Helen Jenkins in 1957 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
