Correspondence to early Ogden, Utah businessman, Fred J. Kiesel. Letters are from his mother, his sisters, Marie and Louise, and his grandfather, Christoph H. Kiesel. Several letters are written in German and these have typewritten pages of English translation. Also included is a genealogy page for the Kiesel family. Letters are dated 1857, 1860, 1862, and 1863.

Letter from George E. Maule addressed to “Dear Brother,” dated August 20,

1909, Ogden, Utah. Letter concerns “Bamberger proposition” about some real estate, and the

“Kadich Investment Co. matter” and Fred J. Kiesel. There is also some mention of an “irrigation

scheme” and the Utah Legislature.

Abstract Photographs of the Friedrich Johann Kiesel (Fred J.) family. Kiesel,b. 1851 - d. 1919, was a prominent early Ogden, Utah businessman and the first non-Mormon mayor of Ogden. Photographs in this collection are of his parents, Louise B. and Friedrich C. Kiesel, and his brother, Henry Kiesel and his wife. These photographs were taken in the Kiesels’ homeland of Germany.
