Photographs taken 1908 - 1912 by Edward Johnson of Croydon, Utah. Photographs are of the cement plant at Croydon, including shots of the various machinery in the plant; the Devil’s Slide area; upper Weber Canyon; some railroad shots; the Johnson homestead; his daughters; and various photographs of Johnson. Black and white, various sizes. Most are mounted on cabinet cards unless otherwise specified.

Abstract The collection is arranged chronologically covering the period from 1890-1911. It contains personal and business correspondence, bills and newspaper clippings. Included in the business correspondence are letters dealing with real estate holdings and financial matters. The collection also includes correspondence from J. W. Guthrie concerning taxes for 1898. Booking sheet reads: “We have in custody E.L. Craft whose photo we are enclosing, and whose description is as follows. Age 23, height 5 ft. 11 ½ inches, weight 150 lbs., complexion light, has red spot in left eye. We are inclined to think that this fellow is a bad man and is wanted somewhere. Elias Gardner was a Utah Mormon pioneer who came to Utah after leaving Nauvoo Illinois. He had multiple wives and many children. His great great grandson was raised in Weber County and went to Weber College. His name is Glade Higgins Lundell.

Abstract

This collection of papers relates the long and successful career of Elizabeth A. Vance in local, state and national Democratic Party politics. It is more than a personal history of Mrs. Vance’s political activities, however. It is also a chapter in the history of the Democratic Party in Weber County and the state of Utah since World War II.

Abstract

This collection was gifted to Weber State University Special Collections in 1999 by the Stewart Family following the death of Elizabeth in 1996. The collection contains most memorabilia items from Donnell and Elizabeth such as certificates, plaques, and scrapbooks. Four family albums were disassembled to preserve the photographs but are groups together by subject.
