Scope and Contents

Found at and donated by Ogden High School, the Victory News Collection is made up of Utah Army Service Forces Depot-DDO (Defense Depot Ogden), Victory News. They are arranged chronologically from 1943-1944. There is one with no date.

Abstract

Small photograph and photographic negatives of young girls in Ogden, Utah, c.a. 1929. Girls are engaged in activities such as swimming and swinging. Negatives have been scanned and reproduced by the computer. Eleven photographs, black and white, 2 x 3, 4 x 5.

Scope and Contents The Viva May Wilcox Collection was donated by her daughter, Rona Lee Maughan. Viva May grew up in Ogden at 2583 Fowler Avenue. This collection focuses on her teenage, early adult years, specifically during World War II. This collection is mostly letters to Keith from his mother, other soldiers and his fiancé Viva May Gammell. These were all written in the summer of 1944. This collection contains photographs mounted on boards sold by Wallace and Schramm of scenic Ogden. The items were purchased from Ken Sanders Rare Books in 2010.

Abstract

This collection contains service cards for servicemen from Weber County primarily during World War I, but also some from World War II. The cards are listed alphabetically by last name. Most of the cards include information such as their home address in Weber County, their branch of service, countries served in, discharge or death dates, and next of kin. There are also fewer than two dozen cards for nurses and Forest Service personnel.
