This collection contains photographs and baseball cards of Hall of Famer Frank Robinson. In 1956, Robinson played for the Ogden Reds championship team. He went on to play for Cincinnati, Baltimore, Cleveland, and California. He is currently the manager of the Montreal Expos.
Writing on the back of the photograph: “Jack Dempsey. Center, former world’s heavyweight champion was principal speaker at the ‘welcome home’ party of the Ogden Reds tossed at Hotel Ben Lomond April 24, 1952. Dee Moore, former major leaguer, manager of the Ogden Club is shown at the left with Steve Messner, former major and minor league infielder at the right. Messner will play third base for Ogden. Two hundred attended the dinner.”
This collection contains copies of the Ogden Reds Team Photographs from 1939, 1948-1955. Almost all of the players are identified, with 1939 and 1948 showing the players real signatures. Included is the 1953 championship team featuring a young Frank Robinson. The first 10 photographs were given by Stephanie and Darrell Westcott.
