Arlyn M. Garside Collection
The Arlyn M. Garside Collection was a collection donated by Kelly Garside. This collection contains
materials pertaining to the life of Arlyn Garside both personal and professional. Arlyn was a
police detective for Ogden city for many years, and the collection contains correspondence,
photos, police reports, his notebooks and mug shots related to his job. It also contains personal
photos and a scrapbook.

Booking sheet reads: “We have in custody E.L. Craft whose photo we are enclosing, and whose description is as follows. Age 23, height 5 ft. 11 ½ inches, weight 150 lbs., complexion light, has red spot in left eye. We are inclined to think that this fellow is a bad man and is wanted somewhere. This collection contains 5 scrapbooks of newspaper clippings collected by the Ogden City Police Department from 1917 to 1928. The collection was donated to Weber State University by Utah State University Special Collections in June 2005. The articles range from topics such as theft, prohibition, larceny, gambling, murder and draft dodging.

Gardner will receive the death sentence Friday since the jury did not recommend leniency.
