The collection consists of a grant proposal by Dale R. Broadhurst for a comparison of the texts of
the Solomon Spaulding Manuscript and The Book of Mormon. The manuscript was donated by
Dale R. Broadhurst, August 16, 1979. Unrestricted. Added donations of three research projects
on the same subject.
The collection contains a Xerox copy of a typescript of a journal written by George W. Taggart,
1846-1847 of his journey from Nauvoo, Illinois with the Mormon Battalion. The journal starts
February 17, 1846. Original vocabulary, spelling, and punctuation maintained. The collection
also contains copies of four personal letters written while in the Mormon Battalion from George
Taggart to his wife, Fanny.
This collection contains various newspaper clippings, pamphlets and memorabilia related to church history.
The Ira Owen Horsfall Collection contains correspondence to Ira Owen Horsfall of Salt Lake City in the years preceding, during, and following his mission for the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The correspondence are from his family and friends during the years of March 1900 and February 1902 through December 1913. This collection also contains newspaper clippings, a few photographs, and Horsfall’s grades from the University of Utah.
