Ogden Tabernacle
Items related to the Ogden, Utah Tabernacle of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. Includes a program for a concert of John Philip Sousa and his band held
December 1, 1919; a souvenir program for “Dedicatory Services, Ogden Latter-day Saints’
Tabernacle,” Sunday, February 12, 1956; and a program for “The First Annual David O. McKay
Honor Day,” February 25, 1965.
Ogden Tabernacle Brick
The original Ogden Pioneer Tabernacle, on the southeast corner of the block, was begun in 1855 and finally opened on Oct. 10, 1869, seating 1,250 people. However, soon after the railroad came to Ogden, work began on a new, larger tabernacle and the old one was to be a concert hall. The tabernacle was replaced in 1953. That tabernacle stood until 1971.
