The Utah Federation of Women’s Clubs
Scope and Contents
The Utah Federations of Women’s Club Collection was donated in 2010, by
Gayla Hansen on behalf of Ann Hansen. Ann Hansen served as president of the Polio
Ogden Emergency Volunteer Club for 1953-1954 and 1965-1966. She later served
as president of the Ogden District of the Utah Federation of Women’s Club for the
three terms of 1974-1975, 1976-1978, and 1978-1980. Ann also served as the
Historian and Photographer for the World Affairs Club, as well as the president
during the term of 1982-1984. Ann served as President and Historian for the
International Relations Study Club, and was also a member of the Ogden Business
and Professional Women’s Club.
The Utah Federation of Women’s Clubs, including the Ogden District of the
UFWC, represented many clubs. These clubs served their communities by holding
fundraisers, benefits and programs helping local establishments and institutions
financially and bringing public awareness to them, including the Weber County
Library. They held regular meetings and events, yearly conventions, and personal
club outings. Clubs that were under the umbrella of the UFWC were:
World Affairs Club
International Relations Club
Home Culture Club
Polio Emergency Volunteer Club
Challenger Club
Business and Professional Women’s Club
League of Women Voters of Weber County Club
American Association of University Women
The UFWC Collection includes scrapbooks, newspaper clippings,
photographs, club reports and official papers, meeting notes, correspondence,
convention programs, publications, and various other materials. There is no
organization of materials for individual clubs since most of the materials were in
scrapbooks, but publications, photographs, and loose newspaper clippings are
organized chronologically, as well as some of the UFWC and Ogden District
convention materials.
