H. H. Kinsey Collection
Scope and Contents
The Henry H. Kinsey Collection contains documents and materials pertaining to H. H. Kinsey,
his collapsible box company and his business dealings on a personal level. The collapsible box
materials focus on the patents Kinsey acquired, and the creation of the business related to them.
His personal business dealings are in the form of receipts, correspondence—both personal and
business—bank records, and real estate dealings. The materials range from 1903-1913.
The collection is broken up into four main series: Collapsible Box Company, Financial,
Correspondence, and real estate. The Collapsible Box Company contains all the records
pertaining to the Kinsey Collapsible Box Company and its predecessor, Utah Collapsible Box
Company.
Correspondence contains both business and personal letters listed by year in each category. The
personal correspondence is mostly from H. H. Kinsey’s sister, Melissa Tusler, living in St. Paul,
Minnesota.
Financial is broken up into sub-series with banking books, documents, receipts and taxes. Each
sub-series is listed alphabetically. The receipts are listed alphabetically by business, except those
receipts written from a receipt book: they are listed as receipts of/from, and then the name of the
recipient. There are documents that have been scanned and printed because of severe damage to
the original document.
Real Estate contains his rental agreements, mortgages, real estate contracts and notes from the
department of the Interior Land Office.
At the end of the collection is a miscellaneous section that contains personal ephemera,
pamphlets and political ephemera.
