Mansion House
Scope and Contents
This collection is the scans of a book written by Nancie Watson about her parents, Rita and Milt Berlin, who started the Mansion House in Ogden. It contains photos and information about the family and the restaurant, as well as the first wedding reception center in Ogden, Threshold, owned by Rita Berlin. The images follow the pages of the book. The Mansion House was located at 2350 Adams, the Schocroft home, and took its name from Joseph Smith’s home in Nauvoo, Illinois that always welcomed strangers. It first opened in 1945, and the family initially lived above the restaurant. Eventually the business grew to the point where the rooms the family were living in were needed for the restaurant, so the family purchased a home five doors north at 2318 Adams Avenue.
