Fletcher Correspondences
Scope and Contents
This collection is letters written from Jack Lemuel Myers Fletcher to his wife, Marvella (Bebe) Miles Fletcher between the years 1944-1946. Jack is serving in the United States Navy during World War II. His wife Bebe is living in Ogden at the time the letters are written. Jack continues to express his love for his wife and their two children and how much he misses them and is homesick in each letter. Letters contain that he is in Pearl Harbor, Guam, Tokyo and at sea. Jack speaks about VJ day. These letters are an intimate insight as to how World War II affected men on a personal level and the struggles to maintain hope while fighting a war and missing his family, friends, and home.
