The Thomas D. Dee and Annie Taylor Dee Family History Collection
Abstract
The Thomas Duncombe Dee Family Collection is arranged chronologically in major subject categories dealing with the individual members of the family from 1844 to 1977. The bulk of the collections consists of journals, correspondence, financial records, legal documents, newspaper clippings, memorabilia and photographs of the Dee family and their many accomplishments through the years. Of special interest are the diaries of Annie T. Dee and Maude Dee Porter, which span more than 50 years. These volumes give a unique perspective into the day-to-day events not only of the Dee family, but also of the local and national scenes. The collection contains documents which reflect the progressive vision and diversity of the numerous business activities pursued by Thomas D. Dee. Together with associates like; David Eccles, Charles W. Nibley, Henry Rolapp, M. S. Browning and William W. Wattis, Judge Dee initiated more than thirty entrepreneurial ventures from1889 to 1905. These records, which have been well-preserved and long-cherished, represent a rich heritage for both the family and the community. They provide a valuable window on the past and give future generation a standard of family life, public service and faithful devotion.
