This material came from the Academic Freedom and Tenure Committee. The contents date from 1970 through 1978. Because of the change of the Academic Senate to the Faculty Senate in 1974, this material straddles two record groups. In processing this material I found that the majority of the decisions were reached after the name change in 1974. It would make the records incomplete if divided by years so therefore these records are under the Faculty Senate record group. There are many reports from various colleges, universities, and the Utah Board of Higher Education dealing with tenure, as this committee formulated a new tenure policy, the Faculty Code of Tenure, 1975; the committee also helped formulate new editions to the Faculty Constitution in 1973 and 1976, and the Faculty Code of Rights and Responsibilities in 1974. In addition the papers include several tenure problems and their solutions, and various memoranda on its meetings, schedules, and interworkings with the Faculty Senate and College Tenure Committee.
