This collection contains articles and resources relating to business administration, correspondence and newsletters for the Department of Business Administration, evaluations for George E. Crawford, information on the manpower research and development project, and a technical proposal for an analysis of and management assistance to the Stone Lake Lodge complex of Jicarilla Apache Indian Reservation.

Biographical / Historical

Dr. George E. Crawford was born July 28, 1930 in Severy, Kansas. He received a Bachelor of Science in business education (1946) and a Master of Science in business administration (1947) from Kansas State Teachers College (now Emporia State University). He received his Ph.D. in 1972 from the University of Nebraska. Prior to teaching at Weber State, Dr. Crawford taught at Jacksonville State University, West Texas State University, and Nebraska Wesleyan University. He started teaching in the department of business administration for the Division of Business and Economics at Weber State College as an associate professor in 1970. He was an associate professor from 1970-1974, professor from 1974-1981, and department chair from 1975-1977. He received tenure in 1975. While at Weber, Dr. Crawford served on several campus and department committees, including the Admissions and Academic Standards Committee, Academic Advisement Committee, and College Ranking Committee. Dr. Crawford conducted a stop smoking clinic in 1977. The eight-session clinic’s purpose was to find the best way for individuals to stop smoking. He was an expert in economic development processes, management, and marketing. He passed away January 5, 1981.
