Record Group Term
This record group contains records related to the Board of Trustees of Weber State University, including agendas and minutes of board meetings and reports issued by the board or its committees. The Board of Trustees has ten members, the president of the Alumni Association, the Student Association president, and eight that are appointed by the Governor. The appointed members serve four year terms. The Board of Trustees are responsible for community relations and fund-raising. When first assigned and granted to Weber State in 1961, the Board was empowered to approve budgets, building contracts, faculty, hiring, salaries, and other duties formerly handled by the State Board of Education The group operated under the name Advisory Committee, the predecessor of the Board of Trustees, from 1952-1961; the Board of Trustees from 1961-1969 and 1991-present; and Institutional Council from 1969-1991.
