Box 1, circa 1985-1995
Scope and Contents
The Center for Aerospace Technology (CAST) collection is the result of the CAST department which was located in the College of Applied Science and Technology, whose director was Dr. K. W. Reister. CAST originally started operating in 1982, and part of its mission was to develop low-earth satellites. The first low-earth satellite developed was the NUSAT 1, which was a joint project with Utah State University from April 28, 1985 to December 15, 1986. This satellite was successfully launched by the Space Shuttle Challenger. Because of the success with the first small satellite, WEBERSAT was created, and had this joint project with AMSAT-NA. The collection mostly consists of diagrams, newspaper articles, and pictures of the projects and persons involved.
